I've started an all Twilight-Free diet. Its really hard as I've been reading Twilight on & off since Xmas! Looking at my collection for something I'd left unread I came across Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen. My copy is new & large. I think it was this that put me off originally. The sentences are long, which increases the amount of effort it takes to read it. I found that it was the same with Northanger Abbey. Both good reads - both have looonnnggg sentences!

Sense & Sensibility is about two sisters, Marianne & Elinor Dashwood. Both are looking for love in completly different ways. Marianne is going at lightening speed, she's desperate for a husband & makes mistakes. Elinor is more reserved but she doesn't want to rush into anything. Though her way to finding love isn't an easy one.

So far I've only read two chapters but from what I've read its a good book. If you like society, scandal, dancing & buckets of romance than this is a book for you! :)

Tokyo Mew Mew

Recently I've started reading manga. Its a japanease comic book. At first I'd real trouble learning how to read it, reading from right to left instead of left to right. Eventually I got the hang of it & I found that Manga is fun! Tokyo Mew Mew is the one I've started with.

Last Day of the Holidays...

The last day of the holidays is always too short. The worst part is that it is almost always sunny. A perfect day that failed to show up when the freedom started. Today is that day. Easter break is the best holiday in my world. You don't have the commitments that Christmas holds, you don't have the long, hot days of Summer. No. Instead you get the perfect days that are special to early Spring. The lightness of the clouds and faintness of the rain.

One of my favourite books of poetry is "The Sound Of Water", which is a collection of Haiku by Basho, Buson & Issa. Haiku is a form of poetry that consists of three lines. Each small poem captures an image or a particular emotion. Whilst reading some today I found a poem that really reflected today:

A lovely spring night

suddenly vanished while we

viewed cherry blossoms

It shows the last night before the imprisonment begins. I know people say that you should be grateful for the education & how others would gladly take your place. I am grateful for my education but I don't think I'll ever use Trig or Physics in reality. I don't think I'll need to be able to perform a seat-drop (trampolining) to get a career. The only subject that I feel will be useful is English. It was English that taught me to write. English that taught me to construct stories & poems. English that I have to thank for this blog. So school isn't that bad - yet!

Though as I said, tomorrow the imprisonment begins and maybe, just maybe, we'll get let out for good behaviour...

Wildwood Dancing

Wildwood Dancing

"Five adventurous sisters..."

"Four dark creatures..."

"Three magical gifts..."

"Two forbidden lovers..."

"One enchanted frogs..."

As the description says "Cross the threshold into the Wildwood & enter a land of magic".

Based on the fairytale of "The 12 Dancing Princesses".

"Wildwood Dancing" is a fairytale set in the forests of Transylvania, the home of the fictional character Count Dracula. In this novel we also incounter vampires or the Night People. They aren't as open or as camoflagued as the Twilight Vampires. And yes, they feed on human blood.

The five sisters encounter these creatures and many others in their adventure. The main character is the second sister, Jenica/Jena. When her father falls ill and leaves for the winter she and her sisters are left alone in their castle. Their overbearing cousin, Cezar, takes over. Ruling with an iron hand he begins to drain their sprirt, both in their world and the Other world.

The ending is tense and sad at the same time. Things happen which you don't expect to. Its a great book and worth reading!

In Easter break what can be better than inviting a couple of friends over for a sleepover and watch a really girly movie? Recently I've been going with my mum to charity shops where I've found some really great films for about £2 & under. I feel better for buying from these shops as I've not only found a great film but I've helped make a difference in the world. Here are some of the films I loved:

Reading List

In every life there are moments of boredom. I have days when that occurs. Normally I stand on a box & gaze on my collections of books. Reading may seem boring but it can be relaxing, exciting or interesting to do. You are transported from your life, far away into distant realm. I think reading a book is having you're own private cinema. You imagine characters & landscapes. They are personal to the reader & become part of your imagination. Here are some books I recommend:

About Second Star to the Right

I decided to start a blog today. I thought I'd try out & see what would happen. 'Second Star to the Right'. Its name is one of the most magical addresses known to children. "Follow that star until the morning & you reach Never-neverland, where you'll never-never grow up". I wonder how many people have wished that. Have hoped. Have believed in Neverland. I have & still do. That's how my blog was named! :)

I was inspired Princess Skye & her AMAZING blog called Princess Portal. 'Second Star to the Right' is a lifestyle blog mixed with faeries, childhood and magical kingdoms.

I've always believed in faeries. Not the porcelain doll-like fairies - they are cute anyway! The wilder type called Faeries. Like this faery --from the Spiderwick chronicles!

Anyways I hope everyone 'Second Star to the Right'
